There are strict guidelines set up by the Modern Language Association to make your paper look officially “academic”. Follow these and you’ll be ready to write college-level papers.

The Title
• is centered
• is not underlined
• is not bolded
• has no extra spaces beneath it

The Citations
• have a "hanging indent"
• are alphabetized
• Usually begin with an author's last name (unless there is no credited author)

The page
• 12 pt. font throughout
• Serif font throughout
• Double-spaced throughout
No exceptions.

The Order
Author's name.  "Article title." Publication Title.  Date published. Database/online information.  Date accessed.

Important: If you use auto citations:
(Noodletools, EasyBib, Citation Machine)

Citations are not always perfect.  C'mon, these are programs scraping data from websites: they do the best they can, but you need to help them, too.

Oftentimes, titles are ALL IN CAPITAL LETTERS or not every major word is capitalized.  This may be a matter of style from the original publisher.  That's fine, but it is not MLA style, so you may need to adjust this.
